Reverse/anti-clockwise direction is for in summer – During summer, you want the maximum cooling effect. “We evaluated noise from both the moving air and the motor-quieter is better,” Deitrick says.Forward/clockwise direction is used in winter– During winter, your fan should spin in a reverse direction, for upward airflow, as this will force the cold air up the ceiling and force warm air built there down into the room-more on this below.
